Mott the Hopple
Mott the Hoople played under a few names in the 1960; however, in the late 1960's British music producer Guy Stevens renamed the band from the Willard Manus novel, "Mott the Hoople." Their debut album, Mott the Hoople (1969), which was recorded in a week, was a cult success, and their repertoire included cover versions of "Laugh at Me" (Sonny Bono), and an instrumental cover of "You Really Got Me" (The Kinks). The second album, Mad Shadows (1970), presented Mott the Hoople as hard rocking, poorly recorded, boggie hippies.
